An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Contract Manager to join our ambitious and fast growing commercial landscaping and fencing business, based in Alvechurch, West Midlands.

To successfully manage projects day to day from initial planning through to completion by liaising with clients, planning resources and managing on-site activity. A strong background in a similar environment is essential as well as an excellent understanding of health and safety issues. The role requires a driving license.

The main responsibilities for the Contract Manager will be:

  • Preparation of Project packs/plans
  • Planning of work schedule to ensure correct prioritisation of all work in progress alongside the Project Coordinator
  • Agreeing start and completion dates with all parties concerned and communication of the agreed project schedule
  • Undertake risk assessments and work in accordance with company Safety Policies
  • Responsible for the line management of site supervisors, including undertaking performance reviews, identification of training needs etc.
  • Handling customer queries
  • Maintaining effective customer relations
  • Ensuring contracts runs to time and within budget
  • Interviewing for new staff members
  • Establishing strong client relationships

The essential experience requirements for the Contract Manager are:

  • Experience in Commercial Landscaping and/or construction with recent exposure at Supervisory or Contract Management level
  • Experience of managing clients, suppliers and other trades.
  • Experience of reading and working from construction drawings, particularly external works and soft landscape plans
  • Leading upto 6 teams
  • Experience of keeping accurate diary records

What we’re looking for…

If you’re experienced at grounds maintenance and are hard-working and reliable with a positive attitude, you’d be the perfect fit!

You’ll need a full UK driving licence and experience of supervising a landscaping team to apply.

 

What the role will involve…

Working along side our Contracts Managers and clients to undertake and supervise the work of your ground’s maintenance team of 1 to 2 operatives.

Working on retirement properties or new build sites,

Use of and supervision of others using a wide range of grounds maintenance machinery.

Ensure works are completed safely, on time and to the customers’ satisfaction

Training and development of other team members

 

Essential Skills:

3+ years grounds maintenance experience

Full UK driving license

Craftsman garden with a good knowledge of plants and pruning times and techniques   

Great communicator with clients and management

 

Desirable Skills:

CSCS Card, Towing, good knowledge and exoerience of hand held and ride on grounds maintenance equipment, compact tractor, PA1/PA6.

The ability to up skill during the off season and help in other landscaping and fencing areas of the business

We are willing to offer training and have many trained and experienced staff to help newcomers learn a range of new skills. Successful candidates must be hard working, enjoying outdoor physical work in all weather and seasons. A full, clean driving licence is preferred but not essential.
